LAURA ACEVEDO DIAZ WHITNEY
Laura journeyed from her country Argentina to the United States as a postgraduate student in 1998 to expand her education and professional experience. Following the award of a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, she moved to the West Coast and joined John Matthews Architects for seven plus years.

Before her arrival to the United States, Laura managed her own private studio practice in Argentina for several years with a focus on custom residential design. Laura’s architecture practice in Tucuman, Argentina, also included the partnerships of Acevedo-Diaz & Kojro and Acevedo-Diaz & Bustos as well as architectural consultation for a variety of design offices. She enjoyed teaching freehand drawing, morphology and composition to Architecture students at the Universidad de Tucuman for five years. In partnership with Humberto Salazar, she also gave several courses of sketching as well as advance drawing and graphic techniques for architectural presentation drawings at the Colegio de Arquitectos in Tucuman, Argentina.
Since 2004 Laura has been providing consultation services to  LSH Studio, FMPO, inc., Gumbinger Avram Architects, John Matthews Architects and Reyes-Michel Design  among other offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

Her free lance experience consists of preparing documentation for Planning and Building Departments such as ADRB Packages for the Town of Hillsborough, Design Development Packages and CD sets for Building Permit for several cities in the Bay Area; all of which include city requirements and code research as well as coordination with Consultants as needed.

Proficient in selection of software such as AutoCAD Architecture, Revit Architecture, 
SketchUpPhotoshop, and InDesign. She also produces 2D and 3D computer and hand free modeling with a variety of rendering and graphical techniques including watercolor, markers and ink.
She performed the graphic design of the Charrett e-Newsletter published by AIA San Mateo Chapter for several years.
During her free time, she enjoys the outdoor activities with her two daughters, husband and friends as well as landscaping, photography, oil painting and modeling sculptures.
